Tips for recording

tipsA few general comments in advance:

Pick the right studio carefully, visit more than one studio and see if you feel at home there. Do you feel that the technician has an affinity with your music? A blues band needs a different studio than a midi production. Do you require a good piano and is there one there? Recording a (grand) piano is not easy and requires a lot of experience. Have you ever tried a real Hammond?

Every studio technician does his best, otherwise it wouldn't work anyway. If you make the wrong choice with regard to your recording studio, it is then your own fault if the result is not what you wanted.

Most guitarists still use a tube amplifier, most bass players too; many vocalists prefer to use an expensive tube microphone in the studio. Some keyboard players carry a Hammond weighing 190 kilos with them. There has to be a good reason for it, think about it. The tube technique is an analogue technique developed in the beginning of previous century and is currently incredibly popular.
